All team members are briefed to understand and follow these requirements.
3. Key Environmental Objectives
- Minimise waste via efficient material use and recycling wherever possible.
- Reduce emissions by maintaining vehicles/equipment and adopting low-emission or battery tools where practical.
- Protect wildlife habitats by checking for nesting birds (roughly March to August) and bat roosts before work starts, holding off where we find them, and following ecological best practice.
- Recycle arisings such as woodchip and timber for landscaping, biomass, or community projects where feasible.
- Prevent pollution through safe handling/storage of fuels, oils and lubricants; immediate spill response.
- Reduce paper use through digital quoting, invoicing and record keeping.
- Promote awareness among staff, clients and suppliers to encourage sustainable choices.
- Replant through our partnership with Treeapp, which plants a new tree for every job we complete.
4. Waste Management
- All waste is managed under the Duty of Care (Environmental Protection Act 1990).
- Treemedic Ltd is a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency (CBDL644967).
- Green waste and woodchip are recycled or composted where facilities allow.
- Metal, plastic and oil containers are returned to approved recycling or disposal facilities.
5. Energy & Resource Efficiency
- Vehicles and machinery are serviced regularly to maintain efficiency and reduce emissions.
- Low-noise, low-emission/battery equipment is introduced where operationally suitable.
- Battery hedge trimmers and leaf blowers are used on most jobs, and we keep a battery chainsaw for night call-outs and quick jobs. Petrol chainsaws are still used where the power is needed.
- Engines, lights and equipment are switched off when not in use.
6. Procurement & Materials
- Preference for suppliers with strong environmental credentials.
- Use of sustainable, FSC-certified timber where applicable.
- Selection of environmentally considerate oils, lubricants and cleaning agents whenever feasible.
7. Training & Awareness
All staff and subcontractors receive induction and refresher training on environmental awareness, spill control, and waste reduction procedures. Toolbox talks reinforce good practice on site.
8. Continuous Improvement
This policy is reviewed annually by management to ensure compliance, effectiveness and continuous improvement. Staff are encouraged to propose ideas for reducing environmental impact.
9. Responsibility
The Director, Ryan Wileman, is responsible for implementing this policy and ensuring adequate resources and training are provided. Every employee shares responsibility for upholding these standards.
