A tree that’s never been pruned tends to get top-heavy and unbalanced, which is when storm damage becomes more likely.
We do crown reductions, weight reductions, thinning, lifting and ivy removal, depending on what the tree actually needs and what’s around it. Get the crown opened up properly and you’ll notice the difference in how much light reaches the garden underneath.

If a tree’s diseased, damaged or leaning somewhere it shouldn’t, taking it down properly is usually safer than trying to save it.
We rig and lower sections piece by piece where there’s a wall, greenhouse or shed nearby that can’t take a direct hit, and we clear it all as we go rather than leaving a mess for you to deal with after. Fully insured, NPTC qualified, and we’ll tell you honestly if felling isn’t actually needed.
A hedge left too long gets leggy and bare at the base, which is much harder to fix than keeping on top of it.
We trim, shape, reduce height and take on overgrown hedges that need bringing back under control, timed around bird nesting season so we’re not cutting into anything we shouldn’t be. Whether it’s a small front border or a long perimeter hedge, we’ll set you up with a sensible cutting schedule so it doesn’t get away from you again.
Got a stump left over from a felled tree? We grind the whole stump out to around 300mm below ground level, then backfill the hole with the grindings and compact them down. You’re left with a levelled area rather than a crater, usually with a small mound that settles over the following months. The grindings break down naturally and act as a good mulch. If you’d prefer them removed, we can arrange that for an additional charge.
Planting the wrong species for your soil is the most common mistake we see, and it’s an expensive one once a tree’s a few years in and clearly struggling.
We’ll tell you what’ll actually thrive on your site rather than just what looks good in a catalogue, prepare the ground properly, and plant it right. If you want aftercare advice for the first year or two while it establishes, just ask.
Oak processionary moth is a regulated pest now established across much of Surrey and SW London, and its caterpillars pose a genuine health risk to people and pets if disturbed.
Our OPM removal service covers identification, safe nest removal, and site clean-up, using careful vacuuming and bagging techniques to contain the irritant hairs without spreading them. Nests can vary considerably in size depending on the infestation, so we assess each one on-site before deciding on the safest method of removal.
Our team is Lantra-qualified in OPM identification and removal, and we report sightings to the Forestry Commission via TreeAlert where appropriate, so you’re not left wondering whether it’s been dealt with properly.

Do you cover my area?
Do you take away the woodchip and grindings?
Grindings are backfilled into the hole and compacted, with any surplus levelled off – they break down naturally and act as mulch. Removal is available for an additional charge. All other waste from pruning and felling goes with us and is recycled responsibly.
